A Carbon-Neutral Event
The Greater Washington Eco-Golf Classic was held on Friday,
April 23 at Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia and was a huge success! The weather was beautiful and the field was filled with over 144 players. Golfers were delighted to meet celebrity guest, former Redskin Doc Walker. After a day on the links, golfers and non-golfers alike headed to a networking reception, dinner and a live and silent auction. Every participant had an opportunity to win a travel experience through the generous support of Project Performance Corporation.
The winning foursome included Justin Kent, Jimmy Rossi, Ryan Stuart, and Joe Cavucci. In addition, prizes were awarded for Closest to the Pin, Closest to the Jack, Men’s and Women’s Longest Drive and the Putting Contest. Clear Carbon Consulting generously donated a $40,000 solar panel install system as a Hole In One Prize.
To show their commitment to our troops, NMF’s Board members and supporters sponsored two foursomes of Marines from the Wounded Warriors Regiment, Quantico to play in the tournament. They were an inspiration to everyone, and we appreciate them taking time from their day to join us on the course.
The day's activities raised over $100,000 to support NMF’s hands-on environmental education efforts!
The tournament would not have been possible without the support of our Sustainable Corporate sponsors:
Other top sponsors included: SAIC, Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC, Deep Water Point, Greenberg Traurig, FMJ Financial Services, Noblis, Pro-telligent, and Sentech.
In addition to our top sponsors, the tournament was supported by many companies and individuals with a like-minded interest in educating our young people to be good stewards of the environment.
We’d also like to thank the players, volunteers, and participants in our silent and live auction. This tournament would not have been possible without everyone involved.
And, we would like to thank the following sponsors of our veteran foursomes: Check Wedel, East Carolina University, ERS Advisors, IP3, Randy Shangraw, Edward Miller and Restoration Engineering.
