May 15, 2008 —NMF hosts the play A Sense of Wonder and awards our Loudoun County, Virginia Rachel Carson Scholars and Loudoun Goes Green poster contest winners.
We will award our Loudoun County, Virginia Rachel Carson Scholars on May 15, 2008 at the Old Stone School in Hillsboro, Virginia. In conjunction with the award ceremony, we will be presenting a one-woman play on the life of Rachel Carson called A Sense of Wonder. The event is free and open to the public.

May 20, 2008 — NMF awards our Rachel Carson Scholars in Maryland
We will be recognizing our Rachel Carson Scholars from the state of Maryland on May 20, 2008 at Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center in Millersville, Maryland. The event is free and open to the public.

April 2, 2008 — NMF hosts Green Earth Book Award Ceremony in Salisbury, Maryland
We are pleased to host the Green Earth Book Award Ceremony at Salisbury University during their Children’s and Young Adult Literature Festival. Winners will be award in three categories: Children’s Fiction, Young Adult Fiction, and Nonfiction. More details will be posted soon!

April 3, 2008 — NMF hosts Breakfast with the Authors at Poplar Hill Mansion in Salisbury, Maryland
Open to the public, this event will allow the community to meet with the Green Earth Book Award winning authors, purchase books and have them signed, and discuss books with the winners. It will take place at Poplar Hill Mansion in Salisbury, Maryland. More details will be posted soon!

April 18, 2008 —NMF recognizes the winners of the GreenFocus Photography Contest
The award ceremony will take place at Maryland Department of the Environment and will be hosted by Secretary Shari Wilson and NMF President Amy Newton. Winners will be award certificates and cash prizes.

NMF is pleased to announce that the 2008 Greater Washington Eco-Golf Classic will be held on April 25, 2008 at Stonewall Golf Club in Lake Manassas, Virginia. This event is open to the public.
December 04, 2007 — NMF holds Holiday Tea and Bazaar
Sponsored by the Executive Women in Government (EWG), the Holiday Tea and Bazaar will be held on December 4 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Ritz Carlton in Pentagon City, Virginia. This event features a holiday bazaar of unique gift items from local artists, a silent auction, and an elegant tea, as well as guest speaker, Amy Newton speaking on “chapters of life.” Thanks to EWG for choosing NMF as the recipient of funds that will be raised at this event!

and natural resources federal workers.
May 24, 2007 — NMF awards our Rachel Carson Scholars
Rachel Carson Scholars will be honored at 1:00 p.m. on May 24,
2007 at the Patuxent Research Refuge National Wildlife Visitor Center.
After the awards ceremony, the play A Sense of Wonder will be presented.
Admission is free, but reservations are required.
May 27, 2007 — NMF calls for a pesticide-free day in honor of the centennial of Rachel Carson’s birth
NMF is working with local, state and the federal government to declare May 27, 2007 Rachel Carson Day, a pesticide-free day in communities across the nation.
April 17, 2007 — Green Earth Book Award authors present to students from the Arlington Science Focus School
Green Earth Book Award-winning authors Sneed Collard III and Melissa Stewart will be talking with 2nd and 3rd graders from the Arlington Science Focus School in Arlington, Virginia about the writing process and their love of the environment.

March 6, 2007 — NMF, Maryland State Senator Brian Frosh, and Rebecca Bell from Maryland State Department of Education kickoff the Rachel Carson Centennial Celebration, the Rachel Carson Scholar Program and Rachel Carson Day in the state of Maryland
NMF will host a press event at the Miller Senate Building in Annapolis, Maryland on March 6, 2007 at 12:00 noon to kickoff our Rachel Carson Centennial Celebration and Rachel Carson Scholar Program. We are pleased to be joined by Maryland State Senator Brian Frosh who will announce legislation to mark May 27 as Rachel Carson Day in the state of Maryland. We will also be joined by Rebecca Bell from the Maryland State Department of Education and Kyle Tanger from Clear Carbon Consulting.

NMF is offering a private screening of Al Gore’s documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth” on July 13, 2006 at Bethesda Row Theater in Bethesda, Maryland. This event is offered to NMF sponsors, donors and volunteers. The evening will begin with a cocktail reception, followed by the movie and a panel discussion.
