One important way the Newton Marasco Foundation celebrates the environment is through the arts—photography, literature, music, movies, drawing and painting. We see a natural convergence between the environment and the arts. And we feel that teaching youth about the environment through the use of artistic endeavors only enhances their appreciation and understanding. Children relate to books, photos and music in a soulful way and using those elements can bridge a child’s connection between art and environment.
We have sponsored environmental poster contests and photography contests, as well as hosted artistic events in the Washington, DC metro area. Provided below is a description of our most current Environment and the Arts projects.
