By Lynne Cherry
To explore a mangrove ecosystem, take a virtual mangrove tour of Belize’s Mangal Cay created by Smithsonian ecologist Candy Feller and graphic designer George Venable. The tour takes you through a winding path to learn what mangroves are, where they are found, and why people need to protect them. Pictures show the animals and plants that are also part of this ecosystem!
The tour can be found at the SERC (Smithsonian Environmental Research Center) Education Homepage

The Mangrove Action Project partners with mangrove forest communities, grassroots non-governmental organizations (NGOs), researchers and local governments to conserve and restore mangrove forests and related coastal ecosystems, while promoting community-based, sustainable management of coastal resources.
